Carrot and Clementine

This spiced, moist, classic cake is one of our best sellers, and for good reason! It is heady with cinnamon, nutmeg & vanilla. The carrots keep the cake moist but so do the poached clementines. Its full of nuts, spice & deep rich classic carrot cake texture. We layer it with vanilla cream cheese frosting, and finish with a final zest of orange. Oh, and it doesn’t contain raisins or sultanas!! This cake was first thought to have been created during World War II when the ministry of food published a recipe for carrot cake, as using carrots gave a sweetness to cake, when sugar was so scarce. But there are references to carrot cake dating back to the Middle Ages!

Frosting: Orange cream cheese frosting

Sponge: A bold sponge full of nuts, grated carrots & blended clementines, heady with cinnamon & nutmeg

Two layer decoration: Naked, frosting in the centre, topped with cream cheese frosting & chopped walnuts & Physalis. This cake has naked sides.

Storage: Store in the fridge to preserve the cream cheese frosting.

Eat by: This cake will be good for up to 7 x days if stored in the fridge.

How to serve: Never eat straight from the fridge, cake should always be eaten at room temp. So, take the cake out of the fridge at least 4 hours before serving.

Collection of cake: All Cake collection will be from Midday on the day you have requested. If you need your cake in the morning on that day, you will need to select the day before, so the cake will be in store ready for you to collect.
